Welcome to the
PUMPED Project

The Profiling and Understanding Milk Pumps, Expenses and Disbursements (PUMPED) project is a health services research project funded by the Friedrich-Baur Foundation, and implemented by the Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich (LMU) Hospital. The project aims to better understand access to breast pumps through the German healthcare system and online marketplaces, describe modern breast pump characteristics, associated costs, and disbursement practices, as well as understand the regulatory environment surrounding breast pumps as medical devices. By gathering these insights, we intend to inform research, policy, and support systems for breastfeeding.
